Split systems and single unit systems work in very much the same way, but in a split system the compressor is seperate to the hot water tank.
This allows the fan to have a greater surface area, and thus be more efficient in a split system than it is for a single unit.
Yes, even swapping from off-peak you stand to get massive savings. As these systems are 4x to 5x more efficient (this is what the COP of the unit refers to) than regular electric water heaters and off-peak is half the price of “on-peak” , you will still be spending 2.5x less on your energy bill.

We charge $420 per 4 metres of piping + wiring that the system needs to be relocated.

Yes, to qualify for the rebate we are legally required to decomission (drill a hole through) your old tank. We’ll recycle and pick it up for you, free of charge!
If you don’t have a suitable area where we may drain the tank, we may charge a small fee to run pipes to a suitable location.
